Good Enough for Company Cheeseburger Pizza Loaf

Time: 1 hrs 5 mins

  • 1 (14 7/8 ounce) cheese pizza mix (I use Chef Boyardee single cheese pizza kit)
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 4 ounces mushroom stems and pieces, drained
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon chili pepper flakes, if desired
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped black olives, if desired
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • milk
  • sesame seed

  • 1 Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • 2 Prepare the dough per package directions.
  • 3 Combine pizza sauce, ground beef, onion, mushrooms, flour, pepper flakes, paprika, oregano, and pepper in a large skillet or saucepot; cook over medium heat for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in olives. Cool for 10 minutes.
  • 4 Place dough on a greased cookie sheet and stretch to a 14x11-inch rectangle. Place the meat mixture down center third of dough to within 2 inches of the ends. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Make cuts 2 inches apart, on each side of rectangle just to edge of filling.
  • 5 Fold ends over filling. Then fold strips over filling alternating sides crossing in center. Brush with milk and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • 6 Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 7 Serve as is or with the sauce.
  • 8 To make the sauce: Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and cook on low heat until cheese is melted and mixture is smooth.
