Strawberry Daiquiri Sorbet

Time: 40 mins


  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 8 cups fresh strawberries
  • 1/4 cup light rum, coconut rum is a special treat
  • 2 teaspoons lime zest
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange liqueur or 1 tablespoon orange extract


  • 1 In a saucepan combine water and sugar.
  • 2 Heat over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil and sugar dissolves.
  • 3 Remove from heat and cool syrup completely.
  • 4 Place strawberries in a food processor bowl or blender container. Cover; process or blend till nearly smooth.
  • 5 In a bowl stir together pureed strawberries, rum, lime peel, lime juice, and orange liqueur. Stir in the cooled syrup.
  • 6 Freeze in a 4-quart ice cream freezer according to the manufacturer\u2019s directions.
